St. Thomas Primary School in the charmingly named village of Double Head Cabbage is situated in the Belize River Valley.  The largely Creole community makes its living from fishing, farming and tourism.  The school is attractively placed on high savannah ground and adjoins the area's only High School.

The school has 97 children with 5 teachers, including a teaching principal, and the classes are multigrade, always a challenging task.

The teachers in this school are particularly concerned to teach the arts (not always on the top of the list in Belize)  but they are hampered by a lack of basic resources.  This school could benefit from being adopted by an arts group!

The school has a successful feeding programme, and children here get a good start in a lively environment.
